Sinclair

Still just random shots of a character, but now these are going to be used as ref pictures for this TBOS OCT. Fingers crossed I get in.

Edit: Just thought of a couple of things that while not essential would probably be useful for an opponent to know when trying to write him.


Name: Sinclair

Age: 27 (Born 1858)

Physical Description: 5'9", swarthy skin tone, brown eyes so dark they almost look black, average build, five ridged scars running from just below his left eye to his jawline, twisting his mouth into a permanent sneer. He typically wears a black scarf wrapped round his face to hide these whenever possible.

Gift description: His own Rosary given the function of Connection.

Personality: A simple way to sum Sinclair up would be to call him pious. He's devoted his life to trying to do God's work and live according to His teachings, and this tends to come across strongly in his day to day dealings. He doesn't try to shove his faith in other people's faces but he doesn't always succeed at this. Due to the less than usual nature of his work he's not particularly used to dealing with other people, not even other members of the Church, and so has ended up very reserved. He doesn't talk a great deal except when he feels he has cause...except when his inappropriate sense of humour runs away with him.

He knows he won't always succeed, and sometimes ends up barking up completely the wrong tree, but he does always try to do the right thing. And as far as he's concerned the right thing potentially (or occasionally even definitely) getting you killed is no excuse not to get on with it. He has a very strong streak of determination and an even stronger sense of self that keeps him going even when it looks like death is imminent.

History: Sinclair was found abandoned as a baby on the church steps in the town of Saint-Clair, Vienne. Due to his believed origins (the popular rumour in the town was that he'd been left their by a group of gypsies that had recently passed by) no one from the town was willing to raise him, much less claim him as one of their own, so the priests took him into the church to raise there instead. While he proved a dutiful student and would likely have made a good priest, he also repeatedly demonstrated a knack for getting into trouble. The priests who originally took him in thought he might benefit from a slightly different style of training and shipped him off to Rome and Vatican City.

He was introduced to a secret sect of the church that dealt with the darker side of the world; one the guarded against the evils and monsters the common man thought only lived in the realm of fairytales. He took to it like a duck to water and embraced it with all the passion of a true calling. At this point in his life he does take direction from the church when it's provided, and frequently returns to pass on reports of what's happening through Confession, he's largely left to his own devices and trusted to know where the church's best interests lie.

Abilities: Other than his determination and strong sense of self Sinclair has no particular abilities. He has been trained to deal with a variety of supernatural situations and is relatively capable of being self sufficient if alone in the wild, but he has nothing like super strength, super speed, or super intelligence to make his life easier.

The following are Sinclair's weapons of choice:

Revolver that holds six bullets when fully loaded. These bullets are thrice blessed by priests and silver laced to be able to take out a wide variety of evil creatures. Sinclair usually has two revolvers fully loaded and a few bags of spares littered about his person. Much to his distress he is now down to his last two bullets.

Blessed Knife: A very sharp dagger about a foot in length that has been similarly blessed like the bullets and is also laced with silver. He's just as good with this as he is with his gun, but tends to favour the gun simply because it gives him a lot more range and the things he usually comes up against have a big advantage in hand to hand fighting.

Rosary: Since Sinclair has the highest respect for the rosary he tends to avoid using it for anything other than its intended purpose, he has on a couple of occasions been forced to use it as a makeshift garotte. The priest wasn't sure to be appalled or amused when he confessed that one.
